Choosing

Advertising Properties

Properties are advertised each week via this website during the bidding cycle which runs from Thursday to Sunday midnight.  Once you have logged in during this cycle your available properties will automatically be filtered to the properties that meet bedroom entitlement.

The adverts tell you the landlord, location, size, rent and other features of the property to help you decide which properties are right for you. Where available a photograph of the property, estate,  or a similar house type is provided and you can access information about the local area and facilities. Please be aware that permanent offers are not furnished and will not have floor coverings such as carpet or laminate unless this has been left by the previous tenant and has been deemed to be acceptable to be left. Occassionally, some new build properties may have white goods included, this will be clearly stated in the marketing information in these cases.

The advert also tells you if there are any special requirements that the applicant must meet, such as age requirements and which bands are eligible to bid.

Expressing Your Interest in a Property

To apply for a property you must tell us that you wish to be considered for it.

You can express your interest or bid, as it is also known, in one of the following ways:

•Online through our website.

•By telephoning our 24hr automated bidding line on 0845 270 0655

•By texting 0786 001 5230

Properties available to rent are advertised from midnight on a Wednesday to midnight the following Sunday every week. Occasionally the cycle may last for 2 weeks, for example over the Christmas period.

You will be able to bid for a maximum of 1 property during the time they are advertised. Bids will not be accepted after midnight on a Sunday. It is important that you carefully read the advert and the details regarding the specific property to ensure you use your bid wisely.  The rent is displayed and it is important that you ensure that this is affordable to you. You could also research the council tax banding as it may differ from your current property meaning an increase in your payments.

Please also note Southwark operates a refusals policy where refusals of three properties within a 12 months period can result in the removal of your priority banding. For further information please click here.
